2005 Callaghan Lisa’s
Rating: 89
Drink: 2007 – 2008
Source: Robert Parker, Wine Advocate August, 2007
An innovative effort is the 2005 Lisa’s, a blend of 55% Viognier and 45% Riesling. Lovely notes of peaches, ripe apples, honeysuckle, and lemon butter are offered in an elegant, medium-bodied, crisp, dry style. Consume it over the next year. If you haven’t discovered these southwestern wines, they are well-worth a search of the marketplace. I have long been impressed with Callaghan Vineyards’ offerings, which emerge from an Arizona mesa. Sometimes the wines, especially those made from Bordeaux varietals, can be slightly overripe and loosely structured, but Callaghan never cheats on flavor. |
